Day 3
Half-Day Cultural Heritage Tour & Township Tour (Approx. $40 per person)
This tour allows visitors a unique journey through the history of South Africa, divided into what is referred to as “The Three South Africa’s”. From the monumental turning point in the Birth of South Africa to the now-decaying ruins of Apartheid South Africa to the townships of the New South Africa. This tour is not to be missed during your visit to Cape Town, as you’re given insight into the greatness of Nelson Mandela and what South Africa has achieved ever since the nation took up his challenge to rise above pain and bitterness. Some of the elements of the excursion may vary depending what’s going on in Cape Town on that particular day, but may include a walking tour, visiting a family’s very modest home and being entertained by a choir. You’ll be sure to experience eye-opening encounters, especially when visiting Langa, the oldest black township and Khayelitsa the largest township, where cultural values and personal experiences are exchanged.

Day 4

Full Day Cape Peninsula Tour (Approx. $65 per person)
A memorable full day optional excursion to Cape Peninsula begins with a scenic drive passing steep mountains, secluded coves and sweeping beaches en route to Cape Point at the southern tip of the Peninsula where you’ll arrive at the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. The reserve is rich with flora and fauna and you may see baboons, rheboks and Cape Mountain zebras. Savor the stunning views of the coastline where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Later drive along the majestic coastline along False Bay and visit the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where you’ll enjoy the magnificent display of indigenous South African flora.

Day 5
Morning Winelands Tour* (Approx. $48 per person)
A great way to spend a morning (Note: in August the tour operates in the afternoon) is to join this excursion to the beautiful wine region. Travel to culturally and historically significant Stellenbosch, a quaint town in the heart of this scenic region, filled with wineries. Walk through the town and explore the impressive Cape Dutch architecture. Your next stop is at a wine estate where you’ll attend a wine tasting session, have an opportunity to explore the grounds and gardens and maybe purchase some local wines!

Day 5
Robben Island Tour** (Approx. $23 per person)
Depart from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront by ferry across Table Bay to Robben Island, the infamous home to the maximum security prison where Nelson Mandela and others were jailed. You’ll have a chance to visit the prison and explore Murray’s Bay Harbor precinct before returning to the waterfront by ferry. (Ferries depart from the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront several times daily, weather permitting. Transfers from your hotel to the pier and back are not included). Please note: The Robben Island excursion is operated by a non-profit foundation and therefore, smarTours cannot guarantee space on this tour. Tickets are sold on a first-come-first-served basis and thercaefore may not be available during your visit. (For further information online you can go to www.robben-island.org.za).   ** During September through March, we advise that you sign up for an afternoon Robben Island tour if you wish to participate in the Winelands optional tour offered on the same day. During April through August, we recommend you sign up for a morning Robben Island tour if you wish to participate in the Winelands optional.

Day 5
Full Day Great White Shark Cage Diving*** (Approx. $148 per person, including breakfast, packed lunch and transfers).
Depart your hotel early in the morning for a full day adventure to experience great white shark cage diving. You’ll head east to the coastal fishing town of Gansbaai, where’you’ll meet your crew and go over the day ahead (and safety instructions) while enjoying breakfast. Then, board the boat and head into the open waters where you’ll put on gear provided to you and climb into through the top of the secure cage. Watch the amazing great white sharks from underwater and enjoy an amazing, thrilling experience. You’ll also enjoy watching the predators from the comfort of the boat while your fellow divers are under water. *** This tour operates on the last day in Cape Town, and it is not possible to do Robben Island or Winelands if you participate in this optional activity. Please also note that this tour must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to departure, otherwise 100% cancellation fees will apply. In addition, if bad weather prevents you from going to sea, you will be informed and given a full refund. If strong winds pick up while at sea and a return to shore is required for your safety, you will not be entitled to a refund. CREDIT CARDS AND LOCAL CURRENCY

Great Trip

In a brief period of time, this trip introduced me to the beauty of South Africa as well as the current difficulties being experienced by its citizens. A bonus was the awesome opportunity to be up close with the wildlife of Africa. Never want to go to a zoo again! Need to mention that our guides David Seddon and Elaine Scholtz were knowledgeable and could not have been more accessible to answer questions or to assist with any problems.

Absolutely amazing trip!

This trip was amazing! Cape Town was absolutely beautiful and the hotel was the same. The tours were well worth it and our tour guides Jason & Elaine were extremely helpful and accommodating. Not to mention how organized every detail of our tour was, they tried to maximize out time in South Afriva for which we were very appreciative. Kruger park was lots of excitement and our hide away hotel was just as perfect. If you're looking for an adventure that's reasonable and exciting this is the one!

Cape Town and Safari Express

The tour was outstanding and the tour guides Jason and Elaine were informative, friendly and witty. I loved the beauty of Cape Town and the excitement of the safari at Kruger. The hotels were good and I liked the idea of offering the optional tours in Cape Town. In short, your tour was a delight. Thanks for the good service.

Unbeatable Value

Cape Town and Kruger National Park was amazing. SmarTours made this trip an effortless journey. We loved the option to explore Cape Town at our own leisure. Your guide Charles was a wonderful wealth of knowledge. My husband and I would have never been able to see South Africa for the $1500 price if booking on our own. We wish we could have stayed longer, but this has definitely been one of our favorite trips and destinations.

Thank you!

Best value available

My wife Carolyn and I very much enjoyed both Cape Town and Kruger. The Cape Town Sun hotel is definitely four star with great Table mountain views from hotel room and a great buffet breakfast. Only critical comment is the optional wine tour is not up price wise or quality to what is available elsewhere. Charles your tour guide in Kruger is superb, very knowledgeable and beyond patient with a few whiners in the group. The open air safari better than advertised, saw big five and much more plus spent whole day in part from before 6AM. We have traveled six continents and never have seen a better value than this at under $1500 per person including airfare, hotels, meals, and game drive. We will likely return and would appreciate a change in flight return option for a longer stay on our own. Cape Town is easily worth a two week stay.

by Noelle on smarTours

Thank you, thank you!! I, as well, was skeptical of the quality of trip because of the excellent price, but I could not have been more pleased. Excellent guides, amazing hotels and all of the tours we went on were wonderful. I couldn't have been more pleased.
