Depart USA.
Your Classic India with Kerala tour packages begin this afternoon as you depart the U.S.
Day 2
Arrive Delhi.
Afternoon arrival in India’s capital. You’ll be escorted to your deluxe hotel. Le Meridien New Delhi
Day 3
This morning, see New Delhi’s highlights: The 12th century hand carved Kutab Minar, the Birla Temple and the India Gate. Later, a tour of Old Delhi takes you to the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi and to the Jamma Masjid, India’s largest mosque. Drive past the magnificent Red Fort, built in 1648 as a symbol of Mughal’s power. Later, enjoy a guided walking tour  to Connaught Place downtown and explore the local shops/markets. This evening, your tour director hosts a welcome dinner. (B,D)

Day 4
Today, voyage to Jaipur, the “Pink City” and capital of Rajasthan, famous for its exquisite buildings of rose-colored terra cotta. Sheraton Four Points City Square Hotel (B)

Day 5
Enjoy a walking tour as well as a rickshaw ride in Jaipur’s old city where you will explore the colorful local bazaar. Also enjoy a photo stop at the Palace of Winds, the landmark of Jaipur. This afternoon venture out of the city to Amber Fort, ancient capital of Rajasthan. See the Temple of Kali, the Hall of Victory, and ride an elephant to the hill where the Amber Fort is situated. Later, attend a unique prayer ritual at a hindu temple. Enjoy a leisure evening in picturesque Jaipur to explore on your own or perhaps enjoy a trip to Jaipur’s spice markets. (B)
Day 6
En route to Agra, visit Fatehpur Sikri, once a glittering capital, later abandoned due to scarcity of water. Marvel at well-preserved buildings and red sandstone palaces. Proceed to Agra, home of the legendary shrine built and dedicated to love, the Taj Mahal. Jaypee Palace Hotel (B)

Day 7
Taj Mahal/Agra Fort Excursion.
The highlight of this morning’s tour is a visit to the fabled, perfectly proportioned Taj Mahal. This 17th century, white marble mausoleum was built by Emperor Shah Jehan to enshrine the mortal remains of his Queen Mumtaz Mahal. Afternoon visit to the Agra Fort, a cluster of mosques and palaces on the banks of the river. Later, explore on your own, shop or relax at your luxury hotel’s pool-side. (B)

Day 8
Travel aboard the famous Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi and continue by coach to Orchha, a medieval city on the River Betwa. Proceed to Khajuraho, renowned for its splendid temples. Enjoy dinner at your hotel. Jass Radisson Hotel (B,D)

Day 9
Tour the spectacular temples of Khajuraho, built by the Chandela kings between the 9th and 13th centuries. The temples are exquisitely carved with graceful statues and frieze of Gods and Goddesses. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Day 10
Fly to Varanasi, Hinduism’s holiest city, situated on the sacred Ganges River. Tour the oldest living city in the world and visit the ‘Ghats’ (banks) of the Ganges River, where you’ll gain greater insight into Hinduism. Radisson Hotel (B)

Day 11
Varanasi/Cochin (Kerala, India).
At sunrise take a boat ride on the Ganges River where pilgrims converge for the ritual of immersion and prayer. Later, fly to Cochin, also known as Kochi or the “Queen of the Arabian Sea.” As an important trading port (particularly for spice) since the 14th century, Cochin has attracted traders and explorers for centuries and draws inspiration from Portugal, Holland, and England. Upon arrival in Cochin, transfer to your upscale hotel. Crowne Plaza Kochi (B)

Day 12
After breakfast, you’ll enjoy a city tour of Cochin, the financial capital and most cosmopolitan city of Kerala. Experience a short ride on a Tuk Tuk that will bring you to The Dutch Palace at Mattancherry, which renowned for its wall murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana (a famous Sanskrit poem). Later, you’ll visit the impressive Jewish Synagogue, which is right in the middle of an area affectionately known as “Jew Town.” Afterwards, you’ll proceed to the oldest European church in India, The St. Francis Church, which was originally built by the Portuguese in 1557. Following your city tour, get ready for a cultural extravaganza with two word-renowned performances — Kalaripayattu (a traditional martial art) and Kathakali (a traditional art form of Kerala and one of the national dances of India). The rest of your evening is at leisure. (B)

Day 13
Cochin/Kumbalangi Village/Alleppey.
Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast this morning before driving to Kumbalangi Village, a local fishing community with a unique tradition and culture. Later, continue to Alleppey, where you will board your houseboat and begin cruising the mesmerizing backwaters that are special to Kerala. The waterways not only play a major role in linking remote villages and islands with the mainland, but they have become a major attraction in Kerala, as they allow visitors to truly absorb the beauty of Kerala’s amazing villages. With its quaint and comfortable design, you’re sure to enjoy your houseboat experience, and it’s a fantastic culmination of your journey throughout India. This evening, you’ll enjoy a delicious, authentic, and unforgettable farewell dinner aboard the boat with your group. Houseboat 

Day 14
After waking up and enjoying breakfast on your houseboat, transfer to the Cochin Airport, where you’ll fly to Delhi. Later this evening, connect with your late night flight back to the USA.
Day 15
Your memorable journey ends as you arrive the USA this morning.


Trip Preparation


Your flights from the New York to India and back are on Air India. Your flight is scheduled to depart New York at 2:30pm. We recommend that you arrive at the airport at least 3 ½ hours before the scheduled departure. Your return flight is scheduled to arrive back in New York at 7:30am. Please make sure to allow sufficient time for clearing immigration and customs if you are planning a connecting fight.  We recommend at least 3 ½ hours.  Please note that flight schedules are subject to change without prior notice.


Air India does not assign seats in advance. Seat assignments can only be arranged at the airport upon check in. If you have a preferred seating choice, please make sure you check in for your flight as early as possible. Air India does not offer any frequent flyer miles for passengers traveling on a group fare.


You must be in possession of a passport valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel. American passport holders must be in possession of a valid visa for India.  To obtain a visa for India, you can contact the Indian Consulate visa processing agency “Cox & Kings Global Services (CKGS)” directly by visiting their website at or by calling them at 1-516-206-1483 or 1-646-589-0088. Alternatively, we arranged an alternate visa processing service “CIBT” to facilitate this for you for an additional handling fee. Your airline tickets along with final instruction and additional travel tips will be sent to you 10 – 7 days before the scheduled departure of your tour.  Please make sure to advise us in case your address changes.


Immunizations are NOT currently required; however, you should consult your personal physician, local public health authorities or the Center of Disease Control (CDC) as to their suggestions.


In April and October, daytime temperatures in North India average in the 80’s and 90’s; from November through March in the upper 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Temperatures in Kerala are often 5-10 degrees warmer than in North India. Overnight temperatures are cooler. The rainy season is normally during the summer months (Jun-Aug).


The hotels used on this tour have several dining choices from coffee shop to specialty restaurants.  Average cost for dinner (excluding drinks) in the coffee shop is about $20 – $25 per meal per person. Your hotel will accept credit cards for your non-included meals.


Hotels and some stores accept major credit cards.  However, for “street shopping” you will need local currency or U.S. Dollars.  Your hotel will be able to exchange for you cash to local currency.   It is recommended that you bring along cash in small denominations.


Each passenger may bring one piece of checked-in luggage (maximum 44 pounds) and one carry-on piece (maximum 15 pounds) not to exceed 18”x10”x8”. However, please note that the limit for checked-in luggage for  intra-India flights is 15 kilograms (or 33 pounds), and any additional weight will incur a fee of $5 USD per each additional kilogram. So, for example, a bag that weighs 44 pounds (or 20 kilograms) will result in a fee of $25 USD. Please also note that your carry-on luggage will be subject to the fee of $5 USD per each additional kilogram over 7 kilograms (or just over 15 pounds) for your intra-India flights. As India is not a formal country, we recommend that you do not over-pack and that you take a variety of casual separates with climate and comfort in mind.
